Ms. Martin stirs some fire between the pages with Christian and Eloise. She creates in-depth characters that lend great creativity to this storyline and adds some explosively passionate scenes that keep the reader wondering what will happen with this lovely couple. Monica M. Martin has written a great sequel to her first book, IMMORTALITY’S CARESS: ALLEGRA’S SEDUCTION. Eloise is a head strong vampire that knows what she wants andshe wants Christian out of her house. But does she? Christian enchanted her and she loved the kisses and caresses he gave her. The sex scenes are hot and will leave you fanning and wanting more. The setting, story, characters and dialogue are well developed, and Ms. Martin’s research shines with facts throughout, lending an authentic feel to this book. I enjoyed reading about this era and feel that ELOISE’S AWAKENING is a great book. Ms. Martin, I will be looking forward to reading your next book in this series.

Blurb

Eloise de Mann is over a hundred years old. She is vivacious, spirited, rather eccentric and somewhat gauche, for a vampire. Her past hurts have her steering clear of the male species, with the exception of a few select immortals, and her incompetent guardian Claude.

Eloise loathes coffins and will only use one when necessary, so naturally she is outraged when she awakens in one, knowing her male guardian has betrayed her. She climbs from the coffin in a right state, but hang nails, disheveled hair and a wrinkled, musty-scented gown, are the least of her problems! Upon entering her home, Eloise finds that an Englishman, Lord Christian Montgomery, has taken up residence there. Luckily for him, the deafening voice of reason, Queen Claudia's, forbids Eloise to harm him in any way! Her only option is to seduce him.

Allegra is very much her own woman, strong and independent. The characterizations of her friends, Sophia and Eloise are also well developed and likeable. Gabriele is a delicious rake and I found him very endearing. I also loved the vivid descriptions of the costumes, parties, the language and mannerisms of that time. I really felt as if I were there.
I have not read this author before, but plan to remedy that.
